I ordered a projector from Dell, which cost $1400. After 8 months, the picture went out. It had a one year warranty, and one of Dell's outsource people said to send it in, and I had to pay shipping and handling. I sent it in and they called a week later and told me that it couldn't be fixed. Despite the fact that the projector was still under warranty and had been handled with care on my part, they told me that not only would I have to pay shipping to get it back, but they would not refund my money. They ended up crediting my account about $200. So I'm out about $1200 on a projector that stopped working UNDER WARRANTY through no cause of my own (or nature's for that matter) and they refuse to credit me any more than that. I will never use Dell again, as their customer service has gone downhill. Their customer service used to be the only excuse for their inflated prices--now they don't have an excuse to charge people what they do. I'm giving them a 1 for poor service, only because there's nothing lower than that to pick from. DELL SUCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Used Dell happily before, but have been out of the country for a few years. Just tried to order 2 measly little memory cards, both in stock at fantastic prices and no charge for 3-5 day shipping. Great! I'll disregard all the online bad reviews about Dell and trust them... Big mistake. 24 hours after ordering, I see onine that my order is now not shipping until AUGUST (that's 2+ months from now). Numerous attempts to try their online 'chat' with serivce reps failed--finally found out it's due to not being a registered, 'trusted' customer. Fine, I'll call. Another big mistake. 3 rounds of the merry-go-round ping pong of recorded menus and I finally talked to a nice person. 10 minutes later she decided she'd have to transfer me to a different department. Ok. But after holding another 5+minutes, a recorded message told me they couldn't process my order any longer and that the call would be dropped. It was. Start over. Another nice rep, apologetic (poor people must get irate customers all the time). She personally made sure I'd talk directly to another person in the right department. Meanwhile, I waited some more. Their recorded music is LOUD and repeats every 5-6 seconds--oi!! Finally talked to the right person in the right dept. She agreed August was a long way off, and tried to explain that Dell didn't diliberately mislead about having things in stock or delivery times. I didn't quite follow all the logic, but she assured me she could cancel the order. We'll see if my card is charged and if I'll have to go thru more hassle like this. There are plenty of other companies out there that are on the ball and that value their customers enough to be truthful and to treat them with respect, so they'll get my business instead (even if I have to pay an extra $10). What a huge shame that a once great company is a shambles now in their online advertising, and especially with customer service.

Looks like Dell service has gown to the bottom of the barrel, After years of buying dell, I would not buy again. and tell everyone I know the same.

I ordered a Dell Computer and received the wrong one. I had to pay for the second one before I could send the first one back and then still didn't come the way I ordered. It took one year of calling to get some type of satisfaction from the purchase but still never got what I was suppose to and Customer SErvice is in India, therefore each time you call you can hardly hear the person on the other end of the line in India. The calls echo and I can't understand what they're saying. They didn't offer any real type of customer service to make up for the year of hassles. I've used computers since they came out and I've had a Sony and loved it. Just thought I'd try a Dell. I had more problems with one year of Dell than all years combined w/ other computers. As I talked to others about my problem, found out there were others who had similar experiences. Not what the company use to be in my opinion. Maybe if I was a corporate purchase things would have been different but it was for my home office.
